In July, 2025, a second English edition of Joseph Kazickas’ autobiography was published with additional chapters entitled “Ten Years After”, “Precious Letters”, and “ The Final Return to Ciornaya Padina” to fully reflect the book’s Lithuanian 3rd edition.
In 2013, Joseph Kazickas wrote his reminiscences entitled “Ten Years After.” When he died in 2014, the family found a cache of more than 100 letters that he had written to his beloved wife, Alexandra. They are beautiful love letters, filled with emotion, poetry and romance, reaffirming his abiding devotion to his wife. The family shared a few of these letters with the public in the chapter “Precious Letters” in the hope they will inspire readers to speak more openly of their love and affection for family and friends and perhaps even to write the occasional love letter to the dearest person in their lives.
“The Final Return” tells his daughter Jurate, granddaughter Kristina and daughter-in-law Lucy’s trip to Ciornaya Padina, his birthplace deep in Russia, in 2016 to bring some of his ashes to inter in the little chapel that Kazickas had created.
